Panasonic Lumix CM1 as a smartphone

The Lumix CM1 is capable as a phone, boasting what can now be considered mid-tier hardware. The major drawback is the fact that the device still runs Android 4.4 KitKat, although the device is slated to receive the Android 5.0 update shortly. The interface itself is near-stock, with the only major addition being Panasonic's camera app, which gives you fine-tuned control over every facet of the 20MP camera. Hardware controls include a ring circling the camera sensor that allows for full manual operation, as well as a dedicated camera shutter button. Here's what you get for the $999 asking price:
  • 4.7-inch full-HD display
  • 2.3GHz quad-core Snapdragon 801 CPU
  • 2GB RAM, 16GB internal memory, microSD slot (up to 128GB)
  • 20MP f/2.8 Leica DC Elmarit lens, 4K video at 15fps, RAW, 2X zoom
  • 1.1MP front shooter
  • Wi-Fi ac, LTE (bands 1, 3, 4, 5, 7, 8 and 20), NFC, Bluetooth 4.0
  • 2,600mAh battery
  • Android 4.4 KitKat
As far as compatibility, the Lumix CM1 is carrier unlocked and works on any GSM carrier in the country.
